Tijuana-‘Following weeks of unprecedented violence in Tijuana, Mayor Jorge Ramos Monday made some major changes in his troubled police department, removing its top official, Alberto Capella Ibarra.

Ramos’ choice for public safety secretary is Julian Leyzaola, a military lieutenant colonel who had been serving as Capella’s top deputy. Stepping into Leyzaola’s position is a retired captain in the Mexican military, Gustavo Huerta Martinez; he had been serving as Rosarito Beach police chief’.

Hmm…Isn’t this just their version of a retirement system. I mean, after enough payoffs the next in line to retire steps in the top spot so he can get a piece of the pie and move on with his drug money and payoffs. It is much cheaper than getting Mexico’s corrupt government to flip the bill.

With Mexico’s gangs, police payoffs and willingness to hide any murderer fleeing the U.S. to avoid a possible death sentence, I might feel just as safe taking a walk through anywhere Iraq.

For example…Iraq has militants running around blowing people up and cutting the heads off innocent people. Mexico has gangs running around shooting up people and cutting the heads off innocent people (The 9 headless bodies found hanging in Tijuana). What a wonderful place to vacation! Great tourism pull.

Really, is there any hope left for this mob style government?

I have already seen a few pages in the main stream media where they are predicting chaos if Obama is not elected. They are driving the point across America that if he loses it will be due to racism. Not because he is democrat or because people did not agree with his views on the economy. No, it will be just pure hate for the black man. Even high brow comedian Russell Brand stated that the only people not voting for Obama are racist.

I do believe that some people will vote against him because of race just like some will vote for McCain because Palin is a woman or McCain is old. I also believe some people will vote for Obama just because he is black.

I do not believe he will lose because he is black. I don’t believe he will lose anyway, but the idea of holding a blanket of accusation over a large portion of the country is ridiculous. What about republicans that are minorities? Are they also racists? What about democrats that will not vote? Hmmm…maybe they are racist. If there are so many racist in the country why does Obama hold a slight lead in the polls? African Americans do not make up 50% of the population. His lead is as close as any other election in the nation’s recent history.

With Obama in the race for president I can see two outcomes. If he wins, he will be a shinning example of the possibilities available to the African America community but if he loses, even by a narrow margin, there will be accusations of racism. There will also be conspiracy theorists shouting that it is a plan by white America to keep minorities down. I don’t know about you but I am sick of conspiracy talk.

It is sad that race plays any part in this election. I am sure that for every person narrow minded enough to not vote for Obama because of the color of his skin there is an equally narrow minded person voting for him because he is black.

If you can get past the idea of picking a president based on democrat or republican you will quickly realize you have to choose between the greater of two evils. You have one that wants to keep fighting in Iraq and another that wants to throw up his hands and quit Iraq. Pointing fingers and playing the blame game. We are in Iraq now so what are we going to do about it? We want answers.

One candidate wants to give money to everyone so everyone can buy health insurance. A nice rosy picture but do you really believe everyone will go out and buy insurance? That’s the mentality of a community organizer. Throw money at it and people will be happy.

The other claims he wants to root out all corruption in Washington. Are you serious? This candidate has been there so long does anyone really believe he is going to turn his face away from money and all his fellow good old boys in DC?

Both candidates are just telling the people what they think they want to hear. They both claim they want to cut taxes. With a huge economic crisis right now does anyone really believe they are going to give us any big tax relief?

Obama is not giving us much but finger pointing. Obama said, “a final verdict on eight years of failed economic policies promoted by George Bush, supported by Senator McCain.” Come on. This problem start with mortgage lenders and inflated home prices and greedy business practices that has been going on and off for a decade or more. Don’t think any president was in on that nonsense.

McCain is busy just trying to become popular. With a young VP candidate and all the talk of cleaning up politics, why didn’t he complain about the dirty politics any time while he was senator?

I think to be fair to all of us and maybe get something truthful out of this election the losing candidate should become VP. Maybe one could keep the other in line. Maybe we would not be in Iraq now….maybe people would have extra money from tax breaks…maybe corruption would subside in DC.

All these promises from these candidates, we have heard it all before. It is the same old thing. I won’t hold my breath on any great changes in Washington any time soon.

What happened? What are we going to do?

Both candidates want tax cuts and yet increased spending in some other areas of government. All this with an included 700 BILLION+ bail out. I know it’s the old “politician trying to win votes” concept but lets be realistic. Cutting taxes and increased spending all on top of a huge messy bail out does not make much sense to me. Ok…I am not an economics major but I do know how to run a house.

Let us pretend this was my household budget. It would not make sense to me to find a lower paying job (lower taxes)….buy more stuff (increase spending on programs)….and buy a huge home (bailout). If this were the case I would be declaring bankruptcy within three months.

Wait one minute. Isn’t this how the whole mess began? People got more credit….bought more stuff…and bought homes they realistically could not afford. Sounds like a vicious cycle to me.

So, with either candidate it seems we are in for a dark road ahead. The only winners will be the big execs who made millions from these companies. Oh sure the FBI is stepping in to investigate but what are they expecting to find that was illegal? Just greedy business practices convincing people to buy homes at inflated prices.

When did this idiotic practice start? Was it with the Bush administration? Maybe it was Clinton’s. No, I am sure this has been going on for years. The signs were written on the wall. For years we heard of the housing bubble. Someone in the government should have taken notice when the average Joe was buying a million dollar home at interest only loans hoping to sell it in six months for 1.5 million.

This was a clear risk even the average Joe should have seen. After the interest only period was over …BAM…huge…and I mean HUGE mortgages. Average Joe knew he could not afford it. This meant foreclosure…..this meant bankruptcy for Fannie and Freddie among others. Maybe average Joe thought someone would bail HIM out when he made a bad decision.

These companies and the homebuyers gambled and lost. Now we all are going to pay. This is only the beginning of a bad economic turn for the worst and the world will suffer.

To dig out we need to treat this like a household….stop spending on a lot of social programs…we have no choice…at least for a few years. I know a lot of people will be angry but it is time for tough choices. Either let the country melt down or cut back on spending.

These two candidates will need to make tough choices and stop beating around the bush on a plan. With Palin and Obama having limited experience I don’t see a silver lining anywhere.

If you have wondered why celebrities seem to be so important in elections you need look no further than how Gov. Palin is scheduled to meet with several world leaders. As you read the list of top dignitaries you will notice which one gets top billing….is it with Iraq President Jalal Talabani or Pakistan’s newly-elected President Asif Ali Zardari? Is it with the presidents of Georgia and the Ukraine? Maybe the prime minister of India will get top billing. India does have a sixth of the worlds populous and controls the global help-line industry. At least it seems that way when I call for assistance from US companies but this is another story.

No…no….the most important “leader” apparently will be none other than Bono. That’s right ….THAT Bono…of U2 fame.

Ok…ok…I know Bono is a hard worker when it comes to international humanitarian issues but will the world turn to him for global answers now? Well, he is a celebrity I guess and we all know celebrities are far above us when it comes to issues of using that squishy thing in our heads….I heard smart celebs call it a brain. I will stick with my “folksy” term and call it a melon. Cheers to you Matt Damon.

My question now will be…what does Bono think of Palin…Hmmm, the world will hang on his decision.

I am as much at fault as any other. After all, I even labeled him as a dignitary. Modern U.S. elections have become more and more of a popularity contest of who can attract more celebrities. I and many of you can scream of how much you don’t care what some pampered celebrity thinks of how you should vote but apparently the majority do. Today it is Bono….twenty years from now maybe a reformed Brittney Spears.

I can only join in the throng and wait to see if the new philosophical leader gives Palin a blessing of the highest rock order. We will hang on your word o great Bono.

Every election it is the same thing. If you are a celebrity you either feel the need to try to convince us simple folk how we should vote in the upcoming election or you are coerced by the media to say something ….well…idiotic.

That is exactly what happened to Matt Damon the other day. He tried to convince us simple folk how to vote and at the same time made an idiotic statement. He would make the other celebtards proud. During the interview he stated he knew nothing of Sarah Palin but began to list here prior work experience albeit briefly.

In typical celeb fashion he made it sound as if Gov. Palin was from little “folksy” Alaska and had no other experience but being a “hockey mom”. In other words, if you aren’t from L.A., NY or SF you are an ignorant cuss apparently. Oops sorry…..you are FOLKSY and where I come from “folksy” can be interpreted as “dumb ass”.

Lets not fool ourselves…..Sarah Palin has had many jobs in her lifetime….teacher, executive, mayor and Governor of the largest state in the union but according to Matt she has no experience. I will not compare her to Sen. Obama’s vast (cough) experience….because after all Matt didn’t either.

I don’t mind if celebtards have strong political beliefs. I do mind when they are so pretentious they assume everyone else in the middle of the country are ignorant hillbillies. Sen. Obama did this too when he stated that us simple folk cling to guns and the bible in rough times. Gee paw….gas is going up again we better load up the shotgun.

Oh sure…Matt came of strong and intelligent as far as celebtards go….but he came apart and lived up to all those great celebtards before him. Matt stated his most pressing concern and quit possibly a vote turner for him would be if Sarah Palin believed dinosaurs were alive 4000 years ago.

You know what…Matt is right. War in Iraq…don’t care. Economy….I do not care. Crime….so what? What Josh Howard thinks of the national anthem….like a true folksy American…I do not care. The important issue should be if a T-Rex was the real cause of King Tuts demise.
